Negril is the Capital of Casual

Negril features 7 miles of public white sand beaches and 5 miles of limestone cliffs which overhang the blue Caribbean sea. Negril was first made popular by the hippies in the 60's and it retains some of that wild lifestyle including topless and clothing optional sun bathing areas. Watersports or being a beach bum are the main activities the area offers. Up in the cliffs, there is plenty of water access through steps carved into the water and ladders hanging off the cliffs to climb up. The cliffs area is called the "West End" by Negril people. The beach may be the main attraction for first time Negril visitors, but many Negril veterans prefer the west end because of the more laid back atmosphere and privacy that each individual west end hotel offers.

The least expensive accommodations are inland from the cliffs, but they are all a short walk to the ocean and a short ride to the beach.




The suggested tour from Negril is the South Coast Tour but the hardy travelers also purchase Ocho Rios Tours (a very long day). The best Negril tour is by bicycle from the beach to the cliffs with 100's of stops along the way. Irie!

  • Take an afternoon Sunset Cruise
  • Ride a Moped anywhere in town (but don't ride it to another city)
  • Go shopping at hundreds of craft booths along the beach cliffs or in town
  • Stop at the new Long Bay park on the beach
  • Night Time is the Right Time for Big Name Live Reggae Shows (look at the signs near the main round about or night time activities at Margaritaville or Risky Business or Legends
